Debt Recovery Paralegal, Debt Recovery Team ¶
We are seeking a Debt Recovery Paralegal to join our Debt Recovery - Pre Litigation Team. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the recovery of outstanding debts, dealing with inbound and outbound calls, responding to debtor queries, managing case files, and liaising with clients and external parties to ensure timely and efficient debt resolution.

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a portfolio of debt recovery cases from initial instruction
- Contact debtors by way of email, telephone and text message to collect outstanding payments
- Monitor and manage deadlines and ensure robust responses and reporting
- Prepare case updates and reports for internal stakeholders or clients
- Negotiate settlements or payment plans in line with client instructions
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on the case management system
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation (e.g., Civil Procedure Rules, FCA guidelines, GDPR)
- Assist Head of Debt Recovery as and when required.
Person Specification:
Essential
- An understanding of debt recovery processes and Civil Procedure Rules.
- Excellent communication skills – written and verbal
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and legal case management systems
- Highly organised with attention to detail and ability to manage competing deadlines
- Motivated to ensure the best recovery outcomes for clients, whilst maintaining high professional standards and compliance throughout.
Desirable
- Experience working in a legal or financial services environment, ideally in a collection role
- A law degree or equivalent experience
- Familiarity with enforcement options, county court and insolvency proceedings
- Knowledge of Pre-Action Protocols and Court Procedure Rules.
